Germany will not hear Rumsfeld case

The guys over the Center for Constitutional Rights are probably fuming right now. The thought makes me all warm and fuzzy. Read my previous Rumsfeld posts here , here, and here.

From DW-World:

Even though a German law requires German prosecutors to investigate allegations of war crimes even if they are not committed by Germans or in Germans, German Federal Prosecutor Kay Nehm said US authorities bore the initial responsibility to do so.

He added that his office could only act if US officials failed to do so, but said this was not the case. A US organization called Center for Constitutional Rights had filed the complained against Rumsfeld and other high-ranking officials in Germany for the role they played in torture and abuse at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison.

Good sense prevails.

So far the CCR is silent on the case, but I expect a press release before to long. I will post it here when I see it.

Reid officially elected as Senate Majority Leader

Without the fanfare, conflict, and fuss which have been evident in House appointments, Harry Read was elected today as the Senate Majority Leader.

From the Washington Times:

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, a moderate Nevada Democrat, was elected by colleagues on Tuesday as U.S. Senate majority leader for the 110th Congress that will convene in January.

Reid, like most fellow Democrats, favors a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, a major issue in last week’s elections that saw Democrats win control of the Senate and House of Representatives from President George W. Bush’s Republicans.
Reid has served the past two years as Senate minority leader. He replaced Tom Daschle, who was ousted by voters in his home state of South Dakota in 2004 after being denounced as “the chief obstructionist” to Bush’s conservative agenda.

Though not free of scandal, Reid dose have a voting record which is suitably moderate, and even conservative on issues like abortion. Best of all he is no Pelosi.

Democrats launch investigation of the President

I am more and more convinced that the Democrats are suffering from an extreme power trip. Motivated by hate they are striking out at everything conservative they can find. No restraint, no modesty, just reckless abandon.

From The Conservative Voice:

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) announced Monday that he will launch multiple investigations into President Bush’s running of the US government. Waxman also announced that his biggest problem is determining where to begin.

Waxman said that he and his staff will investigate virtually every aspect of the Bush Administration including, but not limited to, Hurricane Katrina, government contractors in Iraq, Homeland Security, and political entry into regulatory decisions by the EPA and the Food and Drug Administration.

On Friday, Waxman said enthusiastically: “I’m going to have an interesting time because the Government Reform Committee has jurisdiction over everything!”

Where is the democratic plan for the future? Other than cut and run, what is the plan for Iraq? There is so much more important things to be focusing on that these petty politics.

Its not about justice now, its about revenge. You asked for it American, you got it.
