If you have one problem…

… then you have a problem. If you have more than one problem, they sometimes solve each other.

Take this wonderful bit of news:

PRESS RELEASE
EMBARGO DATE: December 15, 2006, 4 PM.

IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM AND TOLERANCE, AND IN HARMONY WITH OUR GAY MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS, WE PROUDLY ANNOUNCE THE FIRST MARCH TO MECCA, FEBRUARY 14, 2007

Gays marching on Mecca? As in homosexuals marching to the holiest site of the lest tolerant religion in the world? A group who also hold homosexuality to be a crime pushable by death? Wonderful!

Human Rights Watch, Moveon.org, ACT-UP, the Huffington Post and David Geffen are proud to present the March to Mecca, a celebration of peace that calls all gay brothers, sisters and people undergoing sex-reassignment to march to the holiest of holy cities, Mecca, the capital city of Saudi Arabia’s Makkah province on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2007.

[…]

The March to Mecca will snake through the sandy, sunny valley of Abraham, and it is urged that you pack sunblock and plenty of bottled water. “Don’t forget to blog!” adds co-sponsor Arianna Huffington. After the march, Rep Barney Frank of the U.S. House of Representatives will host a special VIP rave on the Queen Boat, a floating disco on the Nile. Hugh Jackman will perform hits from “The Boy From Oz.”

In case that last paragraph didn’t give you a clue, no its not real. But it is the funniest things I have seen in a while. They should have saved it for April 1st though. I almost fell over laughing on this one.

I wonder how many show up by mistake?

There is a site dedicated to it, check out: March To Mecca

FCC settles with Swift Boat and Moveon.org

The following from Associate Press:

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and MoveOn.org Voter Fund, two outside groups that played key roles in the 2004 presidential election, have reached an agreement with the Federal Election Commission to pay nearly $450,000 for various violations.

The groups, along with the League of Conservation Voters, settled charges that they failed “to register and file disclosure reports as federal political committees and accepted contributions in violation of federal limits and source prohibitions,” the FEC said in a Dec. 13 statement.

The commission approved the three settlements on a vote of 6-0.

Typically, Move On got off the easiest with only $150k fine. The League of Conservative Voters had to pay up $180k and Swift Boat Veterns and POWs for Truth will have to pay $299,500.

This just goes to show you that we Conservatives should leave dirty politics, illegal financing, and questionable ethics to the professionals on the other side of the isle.

Top Politically Incorrect Words for 2006

Some of these are pretty good, so I thought I would share them.

1. Macaca – Might have changed the political balance of the US Senate, since George Allen’s (R-VA) utterance (which is an offensive slang term for Indians of the Sub-continent in the West Indies) surely has impacted his election bid.

2. Global Warming Denier – Since there are those who now believe that climate changed has moved from scientific theory to dogma; there are now proposal that ‘global warming deniers’ be treated the same as ‘holocaust deniers:’ professional ostracism, belittlement, ridicule and, even, jail.

3. Herstory for History – ‘Herstory’ again attempts to take the male element out of ‘HIS story’. Though there are nearly 900,000 Google citations for ‘HERstory, they are all based on a mistaken assumption. When Herodotus wrote the first history, the word meant simply an ‘inquiry’.

4. Flip Chart. The term can be offensive to Filipinos, please use ‘writing block’.

5. 1a and 1b — The headmistress of a grade school in Midlothian (Scotland) had to split a grade into two equal classes. Though the split was purely alphabetical, parents objects because those with children in ‘1b’ feared they may be perceived as academically inferior to those in ‘1a’.

6. Politically Incorrect Colors — Staff at a coffee shop in Glasgow refused to serve a customer who had ordered a ‘black coffee’, believing it to be ‘racist.’ He wasn’t served until he changed his order to ‘coffee without milk’. Around the world we have reports of the word ‘black’ becoming emotionally charged and politically correct or incorrect depending upon one’s point of view.

7. Oriental – Asian, please. Though this is generally a purely American phenomenon. In Europe, Asians prefer the term Oriental, which literally means ‘those from the East’.

8. Menaissance – The rise of a ‘manliness’ culture or male renaissance. Replaces metrosexual, which evidently appealed to women but not men.

9. Momtini — A Michigan mother invented the term ‘momtini’ as an act of rebellion against ‘parental correctness’. This has raised the hackles of child protection and ‘anti-alcohol’ groups.

10. “Our Mother and Father Who are in Heaven” – From a new, ‘inclusive’ Bible translation (The Bible in a More Just Language) that replaces what it believes to be “divisive” teachings of Christianity.

Europe tries to address “Islamphobia”

Another lesson in Iron, this one from DW-World:

Muslims in Europe face discrimination in education, employment and housing and are often victims of verbal abuse and physical attacks, but also need to do more to become part of European society, an EU group said.

“The report makes it clear that Muslims … frequently suffer different forms of discrimination which reduce their employment opportunities, and affect their educational achievement,” Beate Winkler, director of the European Monitoring Center on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), said Monday in a statement.

The 115-page EUMC report is the first to cover Muslims across the European Union and coincides with growing scrutiny of EU Muslims spurred by terrorism and increased immigration from the Islamic world.

The “Muslims in the European Union: Discrimination and Islamophobia” study, published on Monday, said incidents against Muslims were “under-documented and under-reported” and called on European Union countries to improve their methods for reporting hate crimes.

“Greater efforts need to be made to ensure that all European Muslims enjoy the right to equal treatment and the same quality of life as other Europeans,” Winkler added.

People are such funny creatures. Subscribe to a religion that advocates the destruction of the Infidel, then wear clothing that highlights you, send some radicals to commit mass murder against the Infidel and the Infidel don’t take a liking to you. Go figure.

N. Korea and the Honesty Problem

North Korea is at it again. It seems about 3 weeks out of the limelight is as much as Comrade Kim can handle.

From the Associated Press:

Declaring itself “satisfied” with becoming a nuclear power following its first-ever atomic test on October 9, North Korea offered no signs of compromise at the six-nation talks Monday, according to officials who were at the forum.

Instead North Korean chief envoy Kim Kye-Gwan called, in his opening remarks to the talks, for United Nations and US sanctions to be lifted, as well as repeating long-held demands for help in developing a nuclear power industry.

he United Nations sanctions were imposed following North Korea’s historic atomic test, while the US financial restrictions were slapped on the reclusive nation late last year for alleged money laundering and counterfeiting.

The other parties to the talks — host China, the United States, Japan,
South Korea and Russia — had all said they were hoping the negotiations would see the North recommit to a disarmament deal brokered in September last year.

That deal saw the North agree to give up its nuclear program in return for security guarantees, energy benefits and other aid.

“The North Koreans insisted that discussions about the implementation of the September 19 joint statement would be possible only after both the US financial sanctions and the UN sanctions are lifted,” a source who was at the opening talks said.

The old saying “Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me” springs to mind here. This guy has no credibility upon which to deal. He has no issue with lying to get what he wants, and he has shown himself more than willing to discard deal he has made if it suits him to do so. That guys is, at best, a few candles short of a full sconce.

And now he wants us to help him build nuclear reactors. As if we have not had enough of the “its only for energy” line that Iran seems to fond of.

This is an older cartoon which I posted back in October, but applicable today.
