Obama: “Sermojn on the Mount justifies same-sex unions”

I don’t get to use this word to often, so here goes: Blasphemy!

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told a crowd at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, Sunday that he believes the Sermon on the Mount justifies his support for legal recognition of same-sex unions. He also told the crowd that his position in favor of legalized abortion does not make him “less Christian.”

“I don’t think it [a same-sex union] should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state,” said Obama. “If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans.” ((Hear audio from WTAP-TV)) St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans condemns homosexual acts as unnatural and sinful.

First, Obama should probably actually bother to read the Sermon on the Mount. I doubt homosexuality would make the grade for “pure in heart”, or “thirst for righteousness”. I would also suggest he rereads vs 19 & 20 of Matthew 5:

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

To get to the book of Matthew he must have stumbled upon Genesis and read Sodom and Gamora.

The “obscure reference in Romans” is probably Romans 1: 26 & 27:

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

I am really getting tired of writing about this guy. He is the antithesis of everything I believe in, every things I stand for, and everything I hope to see in my lifetime.

United Nations Sactions Iran … Again

You know what they say, third time is a charm.

From the AP:

The U.N. Security Council approved a third round of sanctions against Iran on Monday with near unanimous support, sending a strong signal to Tehran that its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment is unacceptable and becoming increasingly costly.

For the first time, the resolution bans trade with Iran in goods which have both civilian and military uses.

The vote was 14-0 with one abstention from Indonesia.

Iran’s U.N. Ambassador Mohammad Khazee told the council just before the vote that the government would not comply with the “unlawful action” against its “peaceful nuclear program.”

Come on, not even France and Germany are buying the “peaceful nuclear program” routine anymore. Even Libya, one of the non-permanent members of the council, voted for the resolution. The resolution was even co-sponsored by France and supported by Russia.

[sarcasm] We know that the UN has been very successful with its sanctions in the past. Just ask North Korea, Sadam Hussain, Syria, and Lebanon; to name a few.[/sarcasm]

When is last time you heard of an effective UN resolution? It makes you wonder what the US gets for its $1.26 Billion (2007) doesn’t it?

Danish report ecounters Texas wom with gun

First cartoons, then movies, and now trespassing — It is just not a good time to be a Danish reporter.

This from the USA Today:

Terkel Svensson, a writer for the Danish News Agency, could not get wireless Internet access at the schoolhouse to file a story. But Svensson could get his cell phone working so he called his editor in Copenhagen and started wandering across a quiet country road as he chatted away.

… What Svensson didn’t realize was that he had stopped walking a couple hundred feet away, on the front lawn of an elderly woman. An elderly woman who looked through her window and didn’t like that a strange man was standing outside her house. An elderly woman who had, um, a gun.

Well this is Texas after all - we all have guns. And if you think that is just a trite expression, you would be mistaken. Here is a picture from a Danish website, Avisen.dk:

US Airstrikes in Somalia

Preemptive strikes done in support of American policy to hit the Terrorists before they hit us. Good news from the AP:

The U.S. launched an airstrike Monday on a Somali town held by Islamic extremists to go after a group of terrorist suspects, U.S. defense officials said.

Three missiles hit Dobley, a town four miles from the Kenyan border, destroying a home and seriously injured eight people, police and witnesses said. The remnants of an Islamic force that had once ruled much of southern Somalia took over Dobley last week.

“It was a deliberate, precise strike against a known terrorist and his associates,” one U.S. military official said in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment on the record.

He gave few other details, except to say the targets were believed staying in building known to be used regularly by terrorist suspects.

Naturally there is a fair amount of spin in the AP article - they hate to see Islamic Terrorists get a bad name.

I truly hope this signals a step up in the posture of our anti-terrorism operations. It is important that we get as many of these homicidal Islamic (is that an Oxymoron?) terrorists before we change to a Commander and Chief with no backbone.

YouTube, No Backbone?

You have probably heard about Pakistan Telecom and what they did to YouTube last week. Computerworld calls it, rightly, Sabotage.

Sabotage. That’s the right word for what Pakistan Telecom did to YouTube on the last Sunday in February. It was intended to be censorship — blocking Pakistanis from seeing a video that their government found offensive. But it resulted in all of YouTube vanishing from the Internet for up to two hours.

If you think that’s merely another silly noncrisis that doesn’t mean anything to your IT shop or business, think again.

What happened? Pakistan Telecom (PT) got instructions from a government agency to block a specific YouTube video, which reportedly included the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that have sparked periodic riots since they were first published in Denmark in September 2005.

So it looks like the target was not really YouTube, but YouTube customers in Pakistan. If Pakistan wants to censor its citizens then that is between the Pakistani government and its citizens.

It does, however, bring even a bigger question as to why YouTube caved in on this issue. This from Investor’s Business Daily:

YouTube has agreed to scrub material critical of radical Islam after Pakistan’s religious police crashed the popular site in protest. Score another one for the Islamofascists.

[…]

Meantime, YouTube is giving in to its blackmailers in Pakistan by removing “highly profane and sacrilegious footage” that was offensive to Islam, including cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

Pakistan’s religious police, in turn, issued instructions to all local ISPs to unblock YouTube, “as the specific content has been removed by the Web site.”

Islamabad pontificated that the offending material “absolutely stands against the values of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.” This from a state that crucifies Muslim apostates and Christian “blasphemers” and refuses to peacefully coexist with Hindus in Kashmir.

We recall how Islamabad reacted with equal fulmination after the pope, in a 2006 speech, linked Islam to violence. “Anyone who describes Islam as intolerant encourages violence,” Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Tasnim Aslam said.

So Islam is so tolerant it will attack anyone who says it is not? Something is wrong with this picture. YouTube has bowed to the demands of terrorists and emboldened those who attack the west.

I have looked to find a copy of the video which was blocked - if I find it on another service I will be sure to post it here.

**Update** The video which caused all this grief is a trailer to the upcoming moving Fitna. The 1389 Blog puts all the pieces together.
