Obama: “Sermojn on the Mount justifies same-sex unions”

I don’t get to use this word to often, so here goes: Blasphemy!

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told a crowd at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, Sunday that he believes the Sermon on the Mount justifies his support for legal recognition of same-sex unions. He also told the crowd that his position in favor of legalized abortion does not make him “less Christian.”

“I don’t think it [a same-sex union] should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state,” said Obama. “If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans.” ((Hear audio from WTAP-TV)) St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans condemns homosexual acts as unnatural and sinful.

First, Obama should probably actually bother to read the Sermon on the Mount. I doubt homosexuality would make the grade for “pure in heart”, or “thirst for righteousness”. I would also suggest he rereads vs 19 & 20 of Matthew 5:

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

To get to the book of Matthew he must have stumbled upon Genesis and read Sodom and Gamora.

The “obscure reference in Romans” is probably Romans 1: 26 & 27:

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

I am really getting tired of writing about this guy. He is the antithesis of everything I believe in, every things I stand for, and everything I hope to see in my lifetime.

Solidarity Against Islam

The Captain and Michell Malkin have kicked off call for bloggers to deminstrate solidarity with the Danish Newspapers who have demonstrated solidarity with Kurth Westergaad and Jyllands-Posten today.

First, lets get up to date on the story as I have not been blogging on this much. From CNN:

Newspapers across Europe Wednesday reprinted the controversial cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed that sparked worldwide protests two years ago.

The move came one day after Danish authorities arrested three people allegedly plotting a “terror-related assassination” of Kurt Westergaard, the cartoonist behind the drawing.

Berlingske Tidende, was one of the newspapers involved in the republication by newspapers in Denmark. It said: “We are doing this to document what is at stake in this case, and to unambiguously back and support the freedom of speech that we as a newspaper always will defend,” in comments reported by The Associated Press.

Newspapers in Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands also republished the drawing Wednesday as part of their coverage of Tuesday’s arrests.

Excellent - it is about time Europe stood up to the Islamic sheeple that clogs there streets and is just waiting for an excuse to start killing, burning, and pillaging.

Sadly, American newpapers are not yet picking this up. So, if they are not, the US Bloggosphere will

In solidarity with the European newspapers, here is the cartoon that has caused so much damage, distruction, and killing. All because of intolerance on the part of “The Religion of Peace”.

Dobson & Huckabee

I grew up listening to Focus on the Family with James Dobson. It was part of the normal breakfast routeen during my school years. I have always respected him and his single minded focus on family values. He was, and is, a good Christian man.

I am, however, a bit surprised that he has come out, at this late date in support of Huckabee. This from the AP:

James Dobson, one of the nation’s most prominent evangelical Christian leaders, is about to endorse former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, The Associated Press has learned.

Dobson, founder of Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Focus on the Family, talked to the GOP presidential hopeful Thursday and later was to release a statement explaining his choice, said Gary Schneeberger, a spokesman for Dobson.

Huckabee had long sought Dobson’s endorsement, believing he is the best fit to advance Dobson’s conservative, moral worldview.

I am less surprised by his choice in Huckabee than his timing. After all, isn’t it a bit late? I don’t see that Huckabee could come back from so far behind McCain. It would have been better had Dobson come out with this before Super Tuesday.

Dobson find McCain about as acceptable as I do, it would seem:

Dobson released a statement Tuesday that criticized McCain for his support of embryonic stem cell research, his opposition to a federal anti-gay marriage amendment and for his temper and use of foul language.
He said if McCain were the nominee, he would not cast a ballot for president for the first time in his life.

HotAir makes a good point
:

What’s Huckabee’s game here? He’d need to win every remaining primary with something like 60% of the vote to overtake McCain. Is he just banking this as yet another piece of social-con cred for his next run in 2011? Or is it a carrot to wave at McCain to remind him that he’d bring along plenty of red-state voters as part of the ticket?

As much as I am afraid to see it, it looks like McCain will go all the way. I just hope he has the mojo to beat out Himary/Obama.

More Muslim Insanity from the UK

Normally I would introduce this piece with a sarcastic comment about the joys of socialized medicing, but I think I will skip it this time. In stead, I have to ask, when will the world push back on the Muslim idiocy plaguing our world? Religious freedoms have limits, and those limits kick in when such freedom impacts the health and safety of others. (Note: Our sensibilities do not fit into either then health nor safety category, regardless of what the ACLU wants you to believe).

From The Conservative Voice:

British hospital Muslim workers are refusing to wash their hands with required anti-bacterial disinfectant gels. The Muslims are protesting the practice on religious grounds, as the gels contain alcohol.

Anti-bacterial gels are used in hospitals to guard against “superbugs”, including Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) and Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL). British healthcare workers said they were shocked to discover the practice of Muslim healthcare workers refusing to disinfect their hands before entering patient rooms.

NHS care assistant Theresa Poupa of London Chest Hospital said: “I could not believe it. The signs are large enough and clear enough but they [Muslim workers] just took no notice and walked straight onto the ward! I was there almost every day for three weeks and I saw it repeated dozens and dozens of times. When I raised the matter with the nursing staff they just shrugged and said that Muslims were refusing to use the gel because it contained alcohol.”

It sounds like passive resistance meets modern day terrorism to me. By encouraging the spread of infection, disease, and superbugs these Muslim workers can make maximum use of there position as health care workers. I hope the UK medical establishment comes down hard on this, very hard.

I am traveling to the UK next month - note to self: don’t get sick.

Europe tries to address “Islamphobia”

Another lesson in Iron, this one from DW-World:

Muslims in Europe face discrimination in education, employment and housing and are often victims of verbal abuse and physical attacks, but also need to do more to become part of European society, an EU group said.

“The report makes it clear that Muslims … frequently suffer different forms of discrimination which reduce their employment opportunities, and affect their educational achievement,” Beate Winkler, director of the European Monitoring Center on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), said Monday in a statement.

The 115-page EUMC report is the first to cover Muslims across the European Union and coincides with growing scrutiny of EU Muslims spurred by terrorism and increased immigration from the Islamic world.

The “Muslims in the European Union: Discrimination and Islamophobia” study, published on Monday, said incidents against Muslims were “under-documented and under-reported” and called on European Union countries to improve their methods for reporting hate crimes.

“Greater efforts need to be made to ensure that all European Muslims enjoy the right to equal treatment and the same quality of life as other Europeans,” Winkler added.

People are such funny creatures. Subscribe to a religion that advocates the destruction of the Infidel, then wear clothing that highlights you, send some radicals to commit mass murder against the Infidel and the Infidel don’t take a liking to you. Go figure.

An Oops and a Christmas Poem

First, I made a mistake yesterday. I wrote post on Regan’s Birthday, which is Feb 11th, and though I posted it to appear on Feb 11th (yes, I like to cheat a pre-load some articles). Well, it posted immediately and it took me until this morning to notice. My apologies!

Secondly, how about a nice Christmas Poem?

Twas the month before Christmas

When all through our land,

Not a Christian was praying

Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,

The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,

About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say

December 25th is just a “Holiday”.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit

Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X-BOX, an I-pod

Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa

In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down

At Lowe’s the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears

You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty

Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen

On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter

To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith

Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded

The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate “Winter Break” under your “Dream Tree”

Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say

Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

CAIR at it Again

Our friends over at CAIR are at it again, this time stepping way outside to try and take a hand in the membership of a Holocaust Council.

From the CAIR press release:

An Islamic civil rights group wants a columnist who criticized Rep.-elect Keith Ellison’s decision to use the Quran during his ceremonial swearing-in next month removed from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday that the comments by Dennis Prager, a columnist and conservative talk radio host, displayed an intolerance toward Islam that makes him an inappropriate person to serve on the memorial council.

An Islamic organization even asking such takes, in my opinion some guts. Not much brains, but defiantly some guts. Of course, this begs several questions.

Dennis Prager spoke out against the idea of allowing a congressmen take his oath on the Quran. Specifically, Prager said:

“Insofar as a member of Congress taking an oath to serve America and uphold its values is concerned, America is interested in only one book, the Bible.”

While I can see why CAIR may not like that statement, there is no dispute that Prager has a right to say it and to speak his opinion without reprocusion. This is, after all, America. There is also the fact that Pager is right - the oath of office to the American people should be taken in a manner in which we Americans feel appropriate.

Why dose CAIR think they, an Islamic organization with a doctrine which is largely anti-semitic, have any voice who can or cannot serve on a Holocaust Council?

CAIRs reasoning?

“No one who holds such bigoted, intolerant and divisive views should be in a policy-making position at a taxpayer-funded institution that seeks to educate Americans about the destructive impact hatred has had, and continues to have, on every society,” CAIR’s executive director, Nihad Awad, wrote in a letter to the council’s chairman, Fred Zeidman.

Saying that a congressmen cannot deviate from 230 years of tradition, and take an oath of office as a US Congressmen on a book other than the Bible is not bigoted, intolerant, nor divisive. The words are, typically, an overreaction to a just position shared, I believe, by the majority of Americans. If this congressmen finds it so distasteful to swear his oath of office on the Bible, then he should be looking for another job.

CAIR is not the only group coming down hard on Mr. Prager for his comments. Joining care are the likes of the Anti-Defamation League. All seem bent on calling his words “Anti-American”, and I have to ask you, what is more American than standing up for our ideals, belief, and tradition.

Words of Wisdom

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary, Sunday, 12/18/05. A friend sent it around and it struck me as just as applicable today and it was last year. Funny, I wonder why Ben didn’t get criticized like Brian Rohrbough did for expressing a very similar sentiment on the same channel just two months ago.

Herewith at this happy time of year, a few confessions from my beating heart: I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important? I don’t know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all about Tom Cruise’s wife.

Am I going to be called before a Senate committee and asked if I am a subversive? Maybe, but I just have no clue who Nick and Jessica are.

If this is what it means to be no longer young. It’s not so bad.

Next confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don’t feel threatened. I don’t feel discriminated against. That’s what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn’t bother me a bit when people say, “Merry Christmas” to me. I don’t think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn’t bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it’s just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don’t like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.

I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can’t find it in the Constitution, and I don’t like it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren’t allowed to worship God as we understand Him?

I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting old, too.

But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke, it’s not funny, it’s intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her “How could God let something like this Happen?” (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, “I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?

In light of recent events…terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about. And we said OK.

Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with “WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.”

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how you can send ‘jokes’ through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?
